Hollywood Bowl

Dudamel, Bryce Dallas Howard Team Up
For Mendelssohn's Version of Dream

Dudamel, in tuxedo with black vest and white bowtie, hands upraise, baton in right hand, and hair flying.William Shakespeare gets his night at the Hollywood Bowl via Felix Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream Suite on Tuesday, July 28, as Maestro Gustavo Dudamel "transforms the Bowl into an enchanted forest."

Bryce Dallas Howard will serve as narrator, while Director Alberto Arvelo pulls off various visual and lighting effects. But the main "transformation" of the Bowl is likely to be an aural one as the dynamic Dudamel conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic through Mendelssohn's famous score, which replicates Shakespeare's play with various musical motifs.

Also on the night's program is Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto featuring violinist Gil Shaham.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. You can add to the experience with a picnic at the Bowl, bringing your own or ordering food on site. For tickets and more information, click here.
